AgoraNet and Nemours Partnering to Support the Needs of those with ALS
The ModelTalker Speech Synthesis System is a revolutionary software package designed to benefit people who are losing or who have already lost their ability to speak. It allows people with ALS or other conditions to use a synthetic version of their own voice for communication, or to choose a voice best suited to represent them. The ModelTalker System is a collaborative effort between AgoraNet Inc. and Nemours. Development of the ModelTalker program is being supported by a Phase II Technology Transfer (STTR) grant from the NIH National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIH Grant Number R42 DC006193-03). This grant will help us finish commercializing this technology from the Speech Research Laboratory of the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children and Nemours Biomedical Research (Nemours.org).
In addition to the technology listed above, AgoraNet's staff has expertise in the areas of augmentative communication, human-computer interfaces, natural language processing and accessibility issues. To learn more about the ModelTalker project, click on the following link: www.ModelTalker.Com.
